October Newsletter

Helping Others

Maria Montessori believed that service to others is a vital part of education. In that spirit, we will begin a collection of items for the people of Western NC through Operation Air Drop. Boxes will be located in the breezeway of the entrance. We encourage to involve your child in purchasing the items. You can talk very simply about how sometimes people need help form others, to more complex topics for older students. For younger students the book "Give" by Jen Arena is a great preface to donating.

Tea Party

Saturday's Parents Association Tea Party was a great success. Thank you to all the volunteers who donated goods, trays, and time to the event. We also thank our corporate sponsors, Wild Flour Bakery, Publix, and Whole Foods. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up and to see our alumni.

Parent Development

What a great turn out for our first parent development night. Natasha gave great information on how to support your child's independence and create easy Montessori environments in your home.

Our next development opportunity is this Friday morning. Our Coffee & Conversation series begins with a discussion around "Toilet Learning and Independence for Toddlers". Ms Kate in Toddler C will help lead this discussion. We will meet in STEAM at 8:30 after car pool. Come and have a cup of Joe and start your day off right! Please feel free to park in the carline driveway and parking lot.

Classroom Observations

Beginning October 14th we invite you to come and observe in your child's classroom prior to family conferences in November. Your child's teacher will send out a link to sign up for a spot in the coming week.

Maria and Me

Do you know families who are interested in learning more about our school and Montessori. Our Maria and Me series will begin again on October 19th. This parent/child four part series is designed for children ages 12 months to 24 months. Prospective families can find more information and register on our website.
