Our first Garden Club was very productive despite the cold, misty afternoon! We were able to clean out our greenhouse completely. The greenhouse as well as the garden beds near the STEAM building yard will be sectioned off by classrooms. Each classroom will have a seed starter kit to begin growing their seeds of choice. The playground and butterfly garden are now free of weeds. We are watching for the return of our perennials on the playground garden and a section will be home to a wildflower garden for cut flowers. It will probably take a few years for the wildflowers to be at their best for creating bouquets.
The first Thursday of each month is for Garden Club with parents. On the remaining Thursdays of the month, I will be working with students on garden projects. Next up is preparing the STEAM yard garden beds for planting this year and laying down weed cloth.
