Parent Education Night: Literacy the Montessori Way

How do children learn to read and write in a Montessori classroom—and what does today’s research say about it?

DETAILS:

Sep 16, 2026, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

CTM, 56 Leinbach Dr, Charleston, SC 29407, USA

In this parent education session, we’ll explore how Montessori supports literacy from the earliest years through rich spoken language, hands‑on materials, and a carefully prepared environment.

We’ll look at:

  • The foundations of literacy in Montessori

  • From sound to symbol: how reading and writing emerge

  • Writing before reading: the Montessori sequence

  • The impact of singing and literacy

  • What current research is telling us

  • Bridging school and home

Parents will have the opportunity to see and handle key language materials, ask questions, and reflect on their child’s unique path toward reading and writing.
