We all want our children to grow into confident, capable, and curious people. But in a world that often rushes them from one milestone to the next, it is easy to forget that learning is not something we do to a child — it is something that naturally unfolds from within them.

That idea is at the heart of the Montessori approach. Instead of working against how children learn best, Montessori works with their natural curiosity, drive, and desire to understand the world. Dr. Montessori recognized the importance of time as a tool to foster deep learning through experiences and designed a program that honors these principles. A foundational aspect of her work is the three-year cycle of learning, each year builds on the last, helping children connect ideas, gain confidence, and develop independence as they move from guided exploration to mastery and leadership.

In this session, we will explore the scientific basis behind the Montessori Method and how it aligns beautifully with current knowledge about brain development. We will discuss the design of Montessori materials and how they serve as a launch pad for children's thinking and executive function, allowing them to explore the world around them. We will discuss the importance of the three-year cycle of learning, and finally, we will see how independence, choice, repetition, and meaningful work are not just Montessori buzzwords — they are the building blocks of a healthy, thriving child and their brain!
