Charles Towne Montessori wins
rare international accreditation
CHARLESTON,
S.C., Jan., 29, 2009 - - Charles Towne Montessori School
has been awarded reaccreditation by an international
Montessori organization, Head of School Edward Jackson
announced today.
Charles
Towne Montessori remains the only school in South Carolina
- and only one of about 70 in the nation - to have accreditation
from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)
for its primary (3-6 years old) and elementary programs,
Jackson said.
"We're
excited about continuing to be part of the exceptional
group of Montessori schools across the country,"
Jackson said. "AMI-recognized schools like ours
at the primary and elementary levels represent only
about 70 of the 5,600 or so Montessori schools in the
United States.
"Furthermore,
AMI teachers like ours at Charles Towne Montessori receive
the most intensive and comprehensive Montessori training
in the world," he noted. "AMI schools are
required to have the entire material apparatus providing
stimulus for the holistic development of the child.
AMI schools are also thoroughly examined to insure that
the school provides a high quality, authentic Montessori
education."
In
a reaccreditation letter to the school, AMI consultant
Gary Goodwin said he was able to see Charles Towne Montessori's
great effort "to provide the best AMI environments
for the children in your care. It is a pleasure to see
such a school as yours dedicated to the cause of AUTHENTIC
help to children. You should be rightfully proud of
what you are doing."
Charles
Towne Montessori, which accepts students at 6 months
of age, currently is accepting applications for the
2009-10 school year. Tuition remains affordable at all
levels, Jackson said. For more information, interested
parents should visit the school's Web site or phone
for a personal tour.
OUR
MISSION: Charles Towne Montessori School fosters a passion
for learning and the development of the whole child
by challenging children's intellects, promoting their
independence and inspiring curiosity.
