Charles Towne Montessori welcomes
new educators
CHARLESTON,
S.C., Aug. 26, 2008 - - Charles Towne Montessori School
welcomed one new lead teacher and three assistants as
it began the new school year this month.
"We're
pleased to bolster our staff with more top-quality educators,"
Head of School Edward Jackson said. "Our teachers
and assistants inspire students to explore the world
and learn about its wonders."
Among
those joining the school's staff this year are:

Iris White,
who serves as a lead toddler teacher. A veteran of
10 years of teaching at the Montessori School of Mount
Pleasant, White is a Montessori-certified educator
who lives in Charleston.
- Sibyl
Kirkham,
primary school assistant. Kirkham has a bachelor's
and master's degree from Appalachian State University.
Also a certified nursing assistant, she lives in Charleston.
- Ashley
Meade,
elementary school assistant. Meade is a 2006 graduate
of East Carolina University who lives in Charleston.
- Pamela
Taylor,
primary school assistant. A former assistant at the
school, Taylor most recently has worked for the Charleston
County Library. She lives on Wadmalaw Island.
Charles
Towne Montessori School, founded in 1972, is South Carolina's
only internationally accredited Montessori school. Located
in West Ashley, the school's curriculum follows the
theory of education established by Maria Montessori,
an Italian physician and educator. Charles Towne Montessori
has a diverse student body with many different religious
and ethnic backgrounds and ages ranging from six months
to 12 years.
