HISTORY
The history of Charles Towne Montessori School is one
of phenomenal growth. The
school was founded in 1972 by a parent who in six months
generated enough support to open a fully equipped, fully
enrolled pre-school class.
Originally,
the school was located in downtown Charleston but has
been located in West Ashley on a four-acre wooded lot
since 1985.
Charles
Towne Montessori School is certified by the Association
Montessori Internationale (AMI) and the American Montessori
Society (AMS). It remains the only school in South Carolina
with certification by AMI.
The school is supported by tuition, gifts and fund-raising.
Charles
Towne Montessori School is open to children without
regard to race, creed, color or national origin.
